I really liked this book until the very end, when it made the horrible mistake of misrepresenting sexual consent. The book says " our general guideline here is that we continue until a women makes us stop." Doing something to a woman before you have obtained her verbal consent means she has not consented. As the sexual assault and prevention center at the University of Michigan says "Consent should not be assumed". And "Consent to engage in one sexual activity at one time is not consent to engage in a different sexual activity or to engage in the same sexual activity on a later occasion". So if a women consents to you kissing her, that does not mean that is consent to you feeling her breasts. The only way you know if she consents is to ask before you touch her. Again, from the U Mich website, "A person’s silence should not be considered consent". So if the woman says you can kiss her, then you can kiss her, but if you then touch her breasts without asking her but she doesn't object, then you have not obtained her consent. I hope that Mark Manson will rewrite his book one day to reflect the real definition of consent, because I think it's a good book in other ways. But if you follow his advice when it comes to physical interaction, you are likely to be accused of sexual harassment. Speaking as a woman, I have never done anything else sexual with anyone who has not asked me first explicitly if they could do what they wanted, e.g "can I kiss you now", "can I touch your breasts now". If they behaved the way Mark Manson advised, and just kept going without explicitly asking for consent first, I would immediately kick them out.
